A Picture Tour of Rajasthan

Rather than write about my quick journey to, from, and around Rajasthan, enjoy some pictures!

*******************
Jaipur

Jantar Mantar - early 18th century observatory...lots of odd geometric devices
A massive sun dial
The City Palace
Mubarak Mahal, currently occupied by a neat textile museum
Amazing doorways found inside the City Palace
There are four doorways, one for each season
Amber Fort with Jaigar Fort in the background
********************
Jaisalmer

Entrance to the Jain Temples of Jaisalmer, built from the 12th to 15th centuries

Amazing Jain carvings

Outside of the Jain Temples
Royal lookout in the royal section of the Jaisalmer Fort
View of Jaisalmer from inside the Fort
What's unique about Jaisalmer Fort is that it's living - old mixes with new, for better or for worse
**************
Jodhpur

Inside Mehrangarh Fort, founded mid 15th century
There was some awesome facial hair in Rajasthan, this one might take the cake
Phool Mahal (Flower Hall)
Ladies Dumbell
The Blue City of Jodhpur

Final thoughts on Rajasthan: Good history, nice palaces and forts, but here more than anywhere else I went in India did I feel like I was constantly one wrong move away from getting ripped off. OK to visit once but only after the much more beautiful and genuine places of India are visited first.
